A short review on the end of a show.
The superb Robert Glasper Experiment played last night at Southbank.
After their last song and deserved standing ovation the band came back on quickly. Rob told us that they only had 4 minutes left for the encore so they were going to get into it.
They played a brief cover of Twice. It was simple and beautiful. Rob had his eyes closed while he played.
Had we been told that our existence on earth was ending in 4 minutes and the last thing I did was this was sit in this room, with these fellow humans and listen to this encore, I wouldn’t feel robbed. It wasn’t rushed or out to impress.
It was them, us and now.
